2012 Fall South Dakota Pheasant Hunt

Bob, Jeff and I arrived in Mitchell, S.D. on Monday afternoon and checked into the Best Western Hotel. Accommodations were a little on the rough side but we managed somehow.
Things got better after cocktail hour started and the accommodations didn't seem so bad. Jeff brought a 15 year old bottle of scotch along and then a fine steak dinner at "Chef's Louie's".
Tuesday, first day was sunny but very windy with gusts up to 50 MPH. We needed a little break after a hard hunt. No birds found today so we may be in need of a new guide. Tomorrow will be better, stay tuned. Tuesday's cocktail hr has started and decisions need to be made, where are we going for dinner
Raider is beat after Wed hunt. He did a great job on the one and only bird for the day, to bad that Jeff and I didn't pay attention. Another birdless day. Thursday will be different.

We did a slow drive by of the World Famous "Corn Palace". Jeff wanted to see it and was wondering if they play hockey there.

On are last day of hunting heading back to town 4 roosters were standing in this open field, on private property of course.
Last night of the hunt, fine wine and cocktails and dinner at Blarney's Sport Bar. Jeff and I both shot a bird today but did not find either in the very thick marsh grass. We headed home on Friday after a stop at Cabela's. No birds in the cooler but it was a fun hunt with good friends and watching Raider hunt. Plans for next year are in the book.
